A sad looking character stopped by our office yesterday holding a stack of newly published phone books. Within seconds of his gift offering, two people were saying "no thanks" at the same time. I gotta believe hundreds of people are posting each year about this same topic. The plight of the phonebook continues.

Can people opt-out of getting phonebooks? I've got three different kinds at my house and every time I see a new one laying by the front door it pisses me off.
Should ask:

The funny thing about people's rejection of phone books: the Internet isn't always necessarily a good place to look up phone numbers. My husband was trying to call one of his doctors the other day and every number he found online was outdated. That didn't make him dig up the latest phone book, though. He just called the pharmacy and asked them.

Jane, I'm guessing the pharmacy phone number was in front of him. I wonder what else he may have resorted to before taking the plunge into the phonebook.
